I might be known for my runs, range, and jazzy flare, but I believe people get such a vast colors from my delivery because I fuse my experiences and emotions through myself into the music. As a result of that, leaving Baltimore and venturing into new territory alone has been rather isolating, but I have found and made so many friends and supporters who helped me through my journey.Īppreciate you sharing that. The reality of adoption hasn’t always fit in my narrative because I was always a part of a small minority in school or work and I was rather ashamed to not know who my real mother and father was. I recently made the move to LA to further enhance my career and experience as an artist, and I’m so glad to be here.Īlright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome? Since graduating, I’ve spent time in education, teaching music and jazz to middle school students, as well as touring internationally, writing, and performing my own music. I went to Temple for Jazz Studies: Vocal Performance, and I also joined Vertical Current, and with them we opened for many artists such as Robert Glasper, Frank McComb, Eric Roberson, and more.

In high school, I was a part of a world-renowned marching band and choir, and that influenced my decision to study music in college. My gift for music developed more as I started playing piano, which I taught myself by ear, and playing the trumpet, which exposed me to music theory. Music was something that brought us together and has held me together since. I started out in Baltimore as a little girl singing in church with my adopted siblings.
