She is detained and questioned by the HPD, having been accused of stealing $10 million from an HPD asset forfeiture locker. In the first several episodes of season 1, she works under the watchful eye of her cousin and quickly wins the trust and confidence of the other team members. She decides to join the "family trade" and was days away from graduating from the HPD academy when McGarrett recruited her for the new "Governor's Task Force", as Five-0 was initially called.
